Premera Grants Take on Early Childhood Trauma
Premera is proud to partner with the Ada Developers Academy. We were on site last week for our company presentation and met a group of potential interns! The Ada Academy is a training program for women and gender diverse people who are working to become software developers. Ada is tuition-free and is comprised of 6 months of full-time classroom training following by 5 months in a paid industry internship. http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vQu29

University of Washington student Leana Nakkour stopped by our booth, just like many other UW students, to talk with our Recruiting team and pick up some swag. She didn't realize that she would use that swag, a first aid kit, later that day. She shared with us what happened next… "Later that day I got on the bus to go home and it was at one of the last stops in University District that a woman collapsed while getting on the bus. She totally missed the curb when stepping and hit her head – either on the bus or the sidewalk, I'm not sure – and a UW medical student rushed out to help her. The bus driver didn't have any first aid materials so when the student rushed back on the bus asking if anyone had a first aid kit, guess who was the only one who did? The woman's forehead was swollen, but thankfully she was alright and only needed a few bandaids. Still, Premera saved the day!" The Recruiting team will be on campuses around the state this fall. In fact, the team is at Western Washington University today meeting with future Premera interns and employees.
