We were excited to join COPT Defense Properties to mark the completion of 9700 Advanced Gateway, a 50,000-square-foot high-bay facility located at Redstone Gateway, a mixed-use development along Rideout Road near Redstone Arsenal’s Gate 9. The pre-engineered metal building is the first of its kind at Redstone Gateway and the closest available to Redstone Arsenal. The facility features a unique concept, allowing multiple tenants to have office space at the front and high-bay research and development areas in the remainder of the building. Each summer, our co-ops and interns come together to celebrate their accomplishments, learn from mentors, participate in team-building activities, and network with one another at the annual Co-op and Intern Summit. Nearly 70 co-ops and interns attended this year’s event in June at the Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Senior Vice President Mike Thompson, Vice President Mark Mattox, and Operations Manager Marshall Scott were joined by Project Engineer Colin Thompson and Assistant Superintendent Neesha Carroll for a town hall panel, where they provided insights into Robins & Morton's culture, as well as technology, trends, career development opportunities, and more... Each semester, we provide real-world experience to co-ops and interns as they become embedded into our project and office teams around the country. Co-ops are students who are part of university programs that require a three-semester rotation, while interns are typically limited to one semester, most commonly during the summer term. "We are not putting students into a shadowing position; instead, they are a part of a project or office team and contributing to the work and the efforts of what they're building," Campus & Talent Acquisition Manager Caitlin Shiflett said. "This gives them exposure to what they could be doing after they finish their degree and once they step into that first-time, and hopefully forever, job." On average, about 90% of our co-ops and interns are offered full-time positions after graduation. Many of our former interns are now in senior leadership roles throughout our organization. We love seeing our co-op and intern participants grow, and we look forward to continue developing the next generation of construction professionals. #BeATrueBuilder
