Please join us in celebrating Soumya Karne, BSN, RN, CCRN, for recently being crowned Miss New Jersey International! Inspired by her experience as an intensive care unit (ICU) nurse throughout the pandemic, Karne’s platform “Wellness Wins!” highlights the equal importance of maintaining one’s physical and mental health. Her focus on a healthy lifestyle and preventative medicine goes well beyond her platform and pageants after seeing her mother implement diet changes, introduce exercise and demonstrate holistic lifestyle changes after her father had a heart attack in his 50s. Now an ICU nurse at Saint Peter’s University Hospital, Karne views her professional role as a full circle moment for her family.

Saint Peter’s Health and Wellness Center is officially open! Located at 562 Easton Avenue in Somerset, NJ, Saint Peter’s Health and Wellness Center offers physical and occupational therapy services, audiology, and speech and language therapy, as well as ear, nose and throat care, for both adult and pediatric patients. Anastasia was recognized by a patient who commended her communication skills, calm demeanor and kindness demonstrated during this mother’s delivery at Saint Peter’s University Hospital. As a Labor and Delivery nurse, Anastasia helps mothers know exactly what to expect during the delivery process and serves as an enthusiastic cheerleader for women throughout labor. The Children’s Hospital at Saint Peter’s University Hospital welcomes its new arrival – the Bless U Baby Boutique! Nurse Manager Dolly Allen, MSN, RN, CCRN-ELBW, envisioned the boutique for families of babies in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The boutique offers baby care items and clothing free-of-charge to NICU families, thanks to those who donated items to stock the boutique’s shelves in support of Saint Peter’s NICU families.
