On 4th April 2024, our facility in Rzeszów, Poland was filled with jubilation as we marked the 5th anniversary since its inauguration and the shipment of our inaugural part from this site. President of Southco, Thomas Mehler and VP of Global HRD, Su Harding joined in the the celebration, enjoying delightful cakes and treats with the team. To commemorate the occasion, Thomas and Plant Manager, Adam Straz planted a tree, symbolising growth and longevity. Warmest wishes to our Poland team on this special milestone!

Southco is committed to the health and well-being of our employees. That's why we're participating in World Heart Day on 29th September, but as we’ve got so many dedicated sessions focused on the health of our employees we’ve extended it across the whole of September. And with the help of a local school, they’ve designed us a fantastic logo to celebrate it. So far, we've hosted yoga and massage sessions for our employees, these are favorites amongst our teams: "I love having a massage at work! It's always a great way to destress and take a breath, especially if you're having a busy day." "We are so lucky to be given this treatment, the people are so lovely and do a splendid job! I look forward to this each time and am never disappointed." And we are only just getting started, there are tonnes more things that will be available to our employees throughout the month. As we believe that a healthy workforce is a productive workforce. By promoting heart health, we're helping our employees live longer, healthier lives. Join us in celebrating World Heart Day!

On International Women in Engineering Day, Southco is proud to raise awareness of the brilliant and talented women in our industry, and focus attention on the career opportunities available to them as we pursue the goal of “Empowering the Architects of Tomorrow.” We have been participating in focus group sessions to raise awareness, talking about inspiring engineers of the past, our own role models at Southco, and how we can encourage more women to take up engineering roles. “Please join me in celebrating the great achievements of women in the Southco engineering community, and in the field of engineering and technology in general” said Jim Ford, Southco’s VP of Product and Engineering. “Over my long career with Southco, the representation of women in our workforce has improved significantly, but more opportunity for improvement lies ahead. We are committed to providing equal development opportunity for all employees.” Jim continued: “by inviting schools into our facilities, encouraging job shadowing, participating in community outreach, and sponsorship of local women and girls in STEM events, we aim to inspire a more diverse future generation to see themselves in one of many possible engineering and technology careers."

Students from Downingtown STEM Academy High School visited the Concordville campus for a week of career exploration. Thank you to all of our engineers who spent lots of time with the students to showcase the variety of career paths in engineering, and our current summer interns and STEM academy alumni for offering college and early career advice.
