Our Faith Community Nursing program is designed to care for the whole person - body, mind and spirit. To assist nurses with checking a patient's spiritual vital signs, Cheryl, M.S.N., RN-BC, a Faith Community Nurse Program Coordinator at Texas Health Ft. Worth created a course called "Holistic Nursing Practice: Assessing the Spiritual Needs of Patients." "By asking questions such as 'Are there any faith traditions that would make this easier for you?' or 'Does your faith community know you are in the hospital?' we can identify needs and use resources such as Pastoral Care to address those needs," said Cheryl. "Supporting prayer practices, a Bible, a rosary or a visit from a chaplain or leader in a patient's faith community can serve as a powerful intervention." http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vMPYK
