In honor of Black History Month, we celebrate an industry trailblazer, John June Lewis, Sr., America's first Black winemaker. Lewis broke barriers by opening the first Black American-owned winery in 1940, cultivating not only grapes but also a path for other Black Americans to follow in his footsteps. We raise our glass to John June Lewis, Sr. and his pioneering spirit!!

Each year, this award celebrates an individual who is making outstanding contributions to the wine and alcohol beverage world.
