We’re honored to make the top 25 on the 2018 DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity list! This year marks our 11th year making the list for our Diversity & Inclusion initiatives, in addition to our achievements in supplier diversity and our commitment to hiring LGBT and veteran team members.   “By partnering with influential organizations [like] the Human Rights Campaign for LGBTQ equality and the Wounded Warrior Project for empowering veterans, we become better at supporting the needs of our employees and stronger allies to these communities,” – Mike Groff, President and CEO of Toyota Financial Services.

Our new R&D campus in York, Michigan, recycled 92 percent of waste generated during construction. That's 461 tons of material put to productive use instead of being deposited in a landfill! Our efforts to minimize waste and establish a recycling-based society are part of our Environmental Challenge 2050 – and our commitment to creating a net positive impact on the planet. More than 11 million gallons of water will be collected per year through our rainwater capture system installed at our headquarters campus in Plano, TX. The captured rainwater is used to irrigate the native Texas plants that make up our campus landscape. Our water conservation efforts support our Environmental Challenge 2050 and our commitment to building a better, smarter, more sustainable future. Watch Now: http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vQzAs

Jim Lentz, our Toyota North America CEO, developed his leadership style from a lesson he learned early on in his career. "Early in my career at Toyota, [my] district sales manager pulled me aside and said I was too soft on people. He wanted me to change my style and to motivate people with an iron fist. He gave me an ultimatum, on Monday, I would have to commit to making the change or find a new job. On Monday morning, I told my manager I had to be who I was and I couldn’t change that. He gave me two weeks to find another job, which I did at our corporate headquarters in California. It was a demotion and I took a pay cut, but in the end, I made the right choice. To succeed in your career—or as a company—you have to stay true to yourself and your foundational values." Learn more about Jim, what he considers his most daring achievement, and whether he prefers self-driving or flying cars: http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vQVfc

Toyota is dedicated to supporting service members and veterans and our commitment spans across the company. This commitment was brought to life when Mike Groff, Toyota Financial Services President, along with our Toyota Veterans Association and Allies in Service hosted mock interview sessions for service members. Lieutenant Colonel Dale Bailey, a local service member in North Texas, heard about the event and jumped at the chance to attend. “That Toyota was partnering with Allies in Service made it a no-brainer. When I showed up and found out each participant would be doing two mock interviews and then getting feedback, that sounded like a chance to get great experience,” said Lieutenant Colonel Bailey.
