Cali Edwards wanted a job that wasn’t in customer service or the DHS. She was always an artist, and when she saw big welded statues, a lightbulb went off in her head, and she enrolled in Tulsa Welding School. It didn’t hurt that her husband is also a TWS graduate. A mother of four boys, balancing motherhood and school was challenging, but her own determination and the support of her friends and family helped her persevere. After graduating, Cali now works for Petroleum Containment, but her ultimate goal is to one day have her own welding company. Cali’s advice for anyone considering enrolling in TWS: “Be open to learning. Communicate with your teachers and other students. Don’t close yourself off or be afraid. Everybody has their own challenges that they’re dealing with, either life challenges outside of school, or challenges in class with their welding, so be open. Communicate. Stay encouraged and ask for help if you need it.”
