UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill has partnered with Durham Technical Community College to offer a ‘hands-on’ learning experience for Central Sterile Processing Technicians. The cohort is a non-credit course where students learn how to assist surgeons by processing and assembling surgical instruments and supporting inventory in operating rooms. Build on your knowledge and immediately put to use what you have learned in the classroom. This paid spring program gives students the ability to earn and learn. Weekly hours will not exceed 20 hours leaving time for study and classes. This position is full time and will work in the UNC REX Heart and Vascular Prep and Recovery (1HV) area, which is a 48 bed outpatient unit located on the first floor of the NC Heart & Vascular hospital. All 48 beds are private rooms equipped with a hard wire monitoring system and a computer in each room. The team works in fast paced environment, caring for an average of 35-45 patients per day. Primary responsibilities include independent operation of diagnostic medical equipment to identify complex conditions and performing and communicating results of diagnostic examinations for a variety of ob/gyn scanning procedures. The Per Diem Ultrasound Tech position requires completion of a 12-month program, but previous experience is not required.
