Matt Stoel, Engineering Intern-Substation, was recently selected as the 2020 IEEE Power & Energy Society Erich Gunther Future Power Innovator. According to IEEE the award is made “To recognize those students in a power engineering discipline that are dedicating their education to the power engineering sector and pushing the bounds of current thought to make the power and energy industry better.” Congratulations, Matt!
We’re thrilled to announce that for the second year in a row we have received the prestigious 1 MILLION WORK HOURS Award for 2020 from the National Safety Council. This award recognizes organizations that have completed a period of at least 1 million consecutive work hours without an occupational injury or illness that resulted in days away from work. As is often said about #safety, it doesn’t happen by accident. Congratulations to Jen Turnbow, associate director of transportation, on her appointment to North Dakota Commission on Status of Women! The mission of the Commission is to improve the status of women in North Dakota, and its two focus areas are women’s leadership and equity. “I am honored to be a part of the promotion of women’s leadership and equity for the State of North Dakota. I’ve spent the last two decades working in industries that have largely been male-dominated,” Turnbow said. “I will strive to promote women’s leadership with openness, understanding and compassion. The American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) in Iowa has presented Ulteig with a Grand Prize Award in the Energy Production Category of their 2021 Engineering Excellence Awards competition. Ulteig won for the project Preparing for the Future & Clean Power: Newport Substation Interconnect, for the client Central Iowa Power Cooperative (CIPCO).
