Tamara Barley's journey, like many young people’s, began with a regrettable mistake that led to an eight-year prison sentence. While incarcerated, she discovered a transformative opportunity through the PBS documentary series "College Behind Bars," allowing her to earn a degree. Now, three years after her release, Tamara serves as the Receiving Supervisor at Albany VP Supply Corp. Her philosophy of "only positive vibes" reflects her commitment to delivering on the VP promise, often responding with "consider it done" to ensure a smooth construction and renovation process. Recently, Tamara dedicated her paid time off to visit a youth detention center, aiming to engage with the residents and encourage them to make positive choices. Tamara is not just an employee; she is a true role model and source of inspiration in her community.

Together, we built an extraordinary structure entirely out of canned goods, showcasing our dedication to giving back and supporting those in need. This year, our efforts were recognized with the Best Use of Labels award, a testament to the innovation and collaboration of our amazing team. Canstruction isn’t just about building—it’s about making a difference. The event directly supports local food banks, ensuring families in our community have access to meals during the holidays and beyond. Each can used in the competition is donated, turning our creative designs into a tangible impact for those facing food insecurity.
