We were proud to see Chris Schultz represent Velvet Taco at the Workforce Management in Fast Casual & QSR Summit in Dallas, hosted by IndustryNow. His keynote, The Upside of Failure, shared candid, hard-earned lessons on failure, focus, and why sometimes doing less leads to clearer priorities and stronger results. We’re grateful to be part of conversations like this.
Our very own Ivan Matul was featured on FOX 26 Houston’s Taco Tuesday segment on September 16th and he absolutely crushed it. 🙌 Ivan spotlighted Tikka Tuesday, our Kick Ass Margaritas, and a few other Velvet Taco favorites, giving viewers a taste of what makes us the boldest taco brand around. This feature put a well-deserved spotlight on our Houston restaurants and the amazing teams behind them! 🌮
Congratulations to Claudia Morales from our Domain location, who has officially earned the title of back-to-back Tacopalooza Champion with this year’s Mango Thai Chicken taco 👏🏆. Winning two years in a row with two different creations is a true testament to her creativity, passion, and talent in bringing bold flavors to life!
Felix Alvarado Perez has joined the Cinco Club! Felix started his journey with us at the 6th & Congress location and quickly became a pro thanks to his strong industry experience. From becoming a certified trainer-helping with multiple NRO’s like Waco and Round Rock, leading training in the kitchen, to stepping into a shift leader role, Felix has done it all. Today, he’s the backbone of our AM tribe—constantly communicating needs, sharing his expertise with recipes/truck ordering, showing up every day, leading by example, and setting the tone for the amount of necessary organization and hard work that goes into our catering operations here. He’s not only a great leader but also a trusted teammate, helping with inventory and always supporting the tribe. Felix, we’ve all seen the respect you’ve earned over the years, and we’re beyond grateful for everything you do. Cheers to five incredible years—and to the next five ahead with Velvet Taco!
At Velvet Taco, we believe that "standing together" is more than just a core value—it's a responsibility we take seriously. Restaurant work is incredibly rewarding, but it comes with its own set of challenges: long hours, late nights, and physical demands. For many of our team members, living paycheck to paycheck means that a single unexpected event—a car breaking down, a medical emergency, or a natural disaster—can lead to a financial crisis. At Velvet Taco, we don’t just serve food; we serve people. When life hits our Tribe hard, we go beyond offering thoughts and prayers. That’s why we’ve launched the "Stand Together Fund," a new initiative designed to provide direct financial support to our team members during times of personal crisis. Whether it's helping someone rebuild after a house fire or supporting a team member through a family medical emergency, this fund reflects our commitment to one of our core values: Standing Together. It’s a way for our Tribe to not only donate but also receive support when they need it most. This isn’t just a slogan, it’s how we lead. At Velvet Taco, we are dedicated to building a culture that truly cares for the people behind the food. #StandTogether
Today, we celebrate something truly special: John Rowley's 5-Year Tacoversary. Not just five years of excellence, but five years of keeping Velvet Taco’s IT systems running smoother than queso on a warm tortilla! Thank you for your tech wizardry, your problem-solving prowess, and for never judging our questionable number of daily taco orders. Cheers to five legendary years (and to many more tacos)! 🎊 🌮 💻
