They have development if you are meeting your targets, Mgt may approve you going

Now, they just want you to show up and do your job, that's it.

Unless your are in the lowest levels, it is non-existent once you reach mid-levle management. Promotions above that are just toys to get folks to work harder. There are no more than 20 or so promotion possible positions for mid-level managers (in a company with 1000's eligible).

Formal professional development is there for the sake of saying it's there and for favorites to run through to give them an edge over other applicants. I found it hilarious being in these development courses and leading conversations over men and women who had positions higher than mine and had no idea about the business and how to execute. Yet...that's corporate America.

They only pick who they want for this one.
