Although pension is for retirement, the funds can be rolled over to a diff type of account if you have changed jobs, and/or if one has been laid off/terminated--- you can request the funds within 60 days of parting from the company ( although there is a penalty if one is not 59 1/2 yrs. of age when making the request for the funds )
