Retirement Plan

Defined benefit plan pays annuity for life for those who qualified. The Plan was discontinued as of 12/31/2015. Those who earned benefits prior to that date will receive them when retired date begins. Beginning 1/1/2016, only a 401K benefit is available.

The rumor is that the company will do a pension buy out for those in the old system and retire after April 1, 2016. New employees do not get a defined benefit pension (i.e.X$ per year of service). The company will be converting to a defined contribution system where they will contribute a certain amount to a new 401k type fund that you can manage and it is up to you to monitor those funds and take the appropriate risks.

Pensions are phasing out for the non union employees.

Easy to use, Boeing Stock (if you chose to invest in it) does pretty well.

As long as the pension still exists, there is nothing can beat it. In addition, there is 401K and there are many funds to choose from.

Boeing offered the best thing every employee needs which is a wonderful retirement plan for the future.

I had a defined benefit plan, which has been great, although now I think that will, may be, ended and the 401K enhanced.
