GE strives to provide competitive employee benefits packages in the regions and industries in which we have a presence. Our wide range of employee services, retirement, health and other benefit plans are designed to help eligible employees make the best decisions for themselves, their family, and their lifestyle.
Health insurance is awful. It's great if you never have to use it, but if you do then you will be paying the majority of your medical bills yourself.

Healthcare costs are going up everywhere, so are mine. GE offers a complete package and we're all adjusting to recent changes in cost-sharing. I do appreciate the maximum out-of-pocket limits and protection of these plans. I also like the HealthAhead programs that have helped bring healthy food to cafeterias and work events, free fitness center and classes, workshops and more. My pension and retirement plans are unbeatable elsewhere.

3 weeks vacation time; medical insurance is very expensive.

Everything seems pretty middle-of-the-road. 401K matches to 3.5%. Health care is just OK, with a lot of out of pocket before insurance will pick up the bill. Vacation for engineering starts at 3 weeks which is very good.

The best thing about GE's benefits are the paid sick days you receive. GE gives you 160 hours of paid sick time off. I don't know anywhere else that does that. So if you need to go take care of yourself personally, GE lets you do so unlike other places where I regularly avoided going to the doctor or dentist because I wanted to save my sick days for that yearly flu that might get me. The other benefits like medical and 401k are mediocre at best.
