match isn't until you have a full 5 years with the company

Thank you for your response. You are eligible for the company match after your first year with the company. Gallagher's matching dollars are deposited on an annual basis.

Company does not deposit any match dollars until after the beginning of the FOLLOWING year. So any employee that has a 401k during one year who leaves before the end of January the following year will not get a match at all.
Gallagher
To clarify, if an employee leaves in January before the previous year’s match is made, they will still receive it. Employees must remain active through the end of the calendar year (December 31) in order to be eligible to receive the match the following January.

We have a 5 year vesting schedule, with a 5% dollar for dollar match of eligible earnings.

AJG recently changed employer match to require employees to work through 12/31 to be eligible for match. That means if your position is eliminated, you are terminated or you resign on 12/25 you will not receive the employer match

Thanks for providing feedback. This does apply to voluntary resignations. However, the plan does provide for company match to be paid in cases of job elimination, reduction in force, mutual agreement separation, total disability and death.

AJG doesn't contribute their matching contribution until the end of the year. So if you leave or are fired before then you lose out on the matching contribution.

Very disappointed AJG continues to erode its retirement benefits. First they froze the DB plan, but increased the match somewhat. Now they make the company contribution after the close of the calendar year. They used to match it at each payroll, but chip, chip, chip...
