Health Insurance is rather expensive considering you are a health care employee working for a huge company. High deductibles and you are tied into using Geisinger facilities and physicians for all your health care needs weather you want to or not.

For employees of a health care facility with it's own insurance plan, it's overpriced

The care itself at clinics and most of the hospitals is excellent. The insurance is a comprehensive plan and is competitive with others on the market but can be difficult to handle costs for some services, much like other insurance providers.

Still low cost compared to many other places in the region. In 2018 a $100/ surcharge for spouses will be applied for spouses who go on your plan but have other options. Seems to be an industry trend.

It's a health system, they should offer a superior plan and they do. It's their own, of course (Geisinger Health Plan) and the benefits are pretty extensive. They also offer a wellness program that if you qualify, can reduce your portion of the annual premiums.
