Job Training

There are hours (4+ depending on subjects taught) of online videos that must be watched prior to teaching your first student. Most explain the use and layout of the outdated record keeping books Huntington uses. Nothing in these videos is as helpful as shadowing a teacher. I was only about to shadow for one session before I began teaching. I would have preferred at least one more session. Ongoing video training happens from time to time but rarely is relevant or useful.

The job training is great for teachers to be familiarized with all curriculum programs and books. The programs are pretty comprehensive, and the training allows for teachers to ask questions, get feedback, and see effective implementation modeled.

They teach you the way they do things and what they expect. Then they have you shadow one of their long-term employees.

Complete and great job training

It was boring, but effective at letting you know what you need to do and how the company works. It involved watching some online videos and observing other teachers.

For the first couple of times that you come to Huntington after accepting a job offer, you go through training. This includes listening to a presentation on the computer first. After you have watched the training videos, you then are asked to come in a few times to watch how things are done at the center. You will be one on one with a teacher and their students. It's a great way to introduce someone to the job.

Trainings are incessant throughout employment but for veterans they were a waste of time. It was as if being one of th few people who stuck it out for more than a few months was a detriment instead of a benefit.
