I think they benefit package they offer is just average compared to other multi-billion dollar companies. They used to offer more benefits like cash sharing at up to 10% of annual salary or ESPP - 15% discount on stock for all employees. That was a huge incentive that attracted the best. All they do now is spot awards ($100/$150) or "Excellence" awards that people earn by going above and beyond ($500/$1000+) and are awarded few and far between. Also, company events (Wild Island, grand holiday parties) have gone the way of the dinosaur. Now, it's about "charity" and "giving back" - not a bad thing. But while the company focuses on MAKING billions, they ask individual employees to reach into their personal pockets and give more of their already over-taxed and "deducted" (health, dental, vision, life, etc.) money.
