depending on the job function and manager, Microsoft is more interested in the deliverable than where one is located during working hours.

In general it's not a problem within Microsoft.
It's at the managers discretion unfortunately. My manager is really old school and wants us in the office.
Even though we have the tools to work from anywhere in the world (which I've done too)
Guess he doesn't want us sitting in Tahiti doing our jobs :(
