PTO payout is by years of service with the company not what you've negotiated. They screw you no matter what. Starting PTO is 144 PTO hours with additional 40 hours at 5 and 10 years of service. Max PTO payout is 1-4 yrs 80 hours, 5-9 yrs 120 hours, 10+ yrs 160 hours minus whatever PTO you've taken. So you automatically don't get paid 24 hours off the bat. You really get screwed if you're in IT and have negotiated the PTO at the 5 year level at the start. My advice is to use all your PTO before you quit. This policy is absolutely ridiculous.

My experience was positive with vacations and time off, but that is totally dependent on your manager.
