When you start working, you are automatically are enrolled in the company’s profit sharing program…where after the first year, you receive company stock, whose value is calculated with a number of factors, years of service, salary, etc. When I joined, the contribution started at 5% of your salary and increased each year to a max of 25% of your salary at 25 years. That rate has changed several times since, and I understand it is still pretty good, but not necessarily as good as when I joined…to be fair, I presume this was compensated somehow in the newer employees benefit package, but if and how that is accomplished, I don’t have specific details.

The best thing about the retirement plan at proctor and gamble is that it meets or exceeds the industry standard.

The company offers two active retirement plans — a 401k Savings Plan and the Procter & Gamble Profit Sharing Trust (P&G PST). Both are enormous — each has about 30,000 participants, with $3 billion in assets for the 401k plan and more than $16 billion in assets for the PST.
