FMLA is available. The agent has to reach out to HR and fill out a form. It there is a hospitalization or a car accident and the agent is unable to get the FMLA form they will do wrongful termination on more then one occasion. So the policy is a little backwards. but if there is a death in the family or a planned unexpected issue it works.

If coverage could be secured by the agent themselves - only then could it be approved

It is not the longest amount of time, but you do get some time for bereavement. It is a 3 day period that they give you for immediate family.

you could call in to report bereavement via phone, however it was not a paid absence even with documentation at least I believe so

There is no paid bereavement pay.

They could care less and there was no bereavement time.

There is no leave of any kind for the first year, and 32 hours for the following which has to be accrued.
