Service-based policy enterprise wide with no room to negotiate. If you are new to the company, you start over at square one, no matter how many years of work experience you have elsewhere. 0-5 years = 12 days vacation 5-10 years = 15 days vacation 10+ years = 20 days vacation No option to "buy" additional vacation days. Each business unit has 10-12 paid holidays per year, depending on the business unit. Some business units (Bell Helicopter, Textron Aviation, Kautex) get the week between Christmas and New Year off either as fully paid holidays or maximum 2 days without pay, depending on where Christmas falls that year. Other business units (corporate, Textron Systems, Textron Specialized Vehicles) will require you to take vacation days to get the time off between the holidays.

You can roll over up to 40 hours of vacation into the next year. Having under 5 years of service you get 11 days.

The worst thing about vacation pay is the fact that you can't get overtime off of it until you make up the hours with actual working hours first.

Treat transitional contractors as entry level employees no matter how many years of professional experience. After 40+ years of work experience and education (25 years as a defense contractor), I was reduced to two weeks leave when offered a position with Textron, even though I never left my desk. I also took a 5% pay cut. Short term disability is a joke, and every effort is made to keep you from taking advantage of this benefit. Retirement savings plan is not your own after you leave the company. They have instituted new requirements/restrictions in the last year that can damage your account when beginning to take distributions at retirement. Do not trust this firm to have your welfare at heart.

They are very anal about when you take time off and why, there's no privacy. My manager even went to a couple of my Dr appointments. No personal privacy.

Standard 8 hours for 1 month of work. Many times I was unable to take vacation due to the "needs of the company".
