Being enrolled in 401k has allowed me to save money I don't miss or ever think about

Pension is provided with cost to employee

I am eligible, but haven't taken advantage of it... yet

Okay, but you better be saving somewhere else too.

There used to be one- NO MORE

The pension plan is nearly bankrupt because of total incompetence and ignorance. The only saving grace is the 401k Program is a solid investment program with a very reputable Financial Company as the Administrator. If you decide to work there sink all your extra money into the 401k. It's the only way to give yourself a fighting chance to have the ability to retire.

I've heard it is great

They have a pension. But it gets stripped down every contract. 2-3 more contracts and there probably won't be a pension.

Part time workers have a defined benefit pension plan. You can retire after 25 years and receive a generous check every month for the rest of your life.
