The best thing about the US Army retirement plan is the generous pension after 20 years of service, plus the Blended Retirement System (BRS) with government contributions to a Thrift Savings Plan (TSP). The worst thing is that those who leave before 20 years don’t get a pension, making long-term benefits less accessible for shorter-term service members.
