      Product Designer Interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at AXS (Los Angeles, CA) in Aug 2024

      Interview

I went through a total of two virtual interviews and one on-site interview, which included two separate sessions. For the virtual portion: 1. The first interview was a video call with the recruiter. 2. The second was a one-hour case study review with two product design directors. For the on-site interview: 1. The first session was another one-hour case study review with three product designers. 2. The second session was a behavioral interview with the VP of Design and a Product Manager. I ultimately received a verbal offer, and the recruiter provided me with a start date, promising to send the formal offer letter by the end of the day. However, the offer was later retracted due to my status as a Canadian citizen on a TN visa. I had been transparent about my visa requirements throughout the entire interview process, and the recruiter was fully aware. She even requested a list of my visa needs to attach to the offer letter. Despite this, the company mishandled the situation, citing inconsistent and nonsensical reasons for the retraction. They also refused to let me communicate directly with their legal counsel until the very end, despite my repeated requests for clarification. The entire process was unprofessional and poorly managed. Based on my experience, I would not recommend working with this company.

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We understand that the interview process can sometimes be challenging, especially when specific requirements such as visa sponsorship are involved. We truly appreciate the time and effort you dedicated throughout the various stages of the process. To clarify, visa sponsorship was not available for this particular role. Once we became aware of your visa requirements, we made sure to connect you with our immigration attorney to provide a clearer understanding of the process. Ultimately, we decided not to move forward with an offer, as sponsorship was required. Your input is valuable, and we will use it to improve our hiring process moving forward. We wish you the best in your job search and future career.
