I applied online. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union in Feb 2011
Interview
Posted onnline application without a resume and received a call the very next day. Interview was set up for the next week and I heard back from them within the promised time of 4 days. (weekend included). Interviewed with the same person both on the phone and 1:1.
They asked very thought provoking questions, not your typical interview questions.

Question 1
If you established a relationship with a customer and then they asked you for something that wasn't able to be approved or accomplished, how would you handle the situation.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union (Bemidji, MN) in May 2017
Interview
The hiring process was typical - phone interview followed by in person interview. I was felt very good after the interview as it went well and the branch manager seemed very positive about my chances. By the end of the week I received a call from the branch manager who offered me the position. I thanked the manager for the opportunity and asked if I might have to the end of the day to consider the position, while I was anticipating the call from another job I had interviewed for a week and a half previous. She agreed that would be fine and to leave a message with my answer if she weren't there to answer.
I called a few hours before the end of their work day and happily accepted the job over in a message to the manager's phone line as directed. I then went to talk to my current boss to let him know I'd be leaving my position a few days short of 2 weeks as the training for the member advisor I position began June 5. (She offered me the position May 26th.) Thankfully, my current boss was very understanding and said it wouldn't be a problem to leave short of a two week notice.
An hour or so later, I received a call back from the AFFINITY branch's manager stating she received my message accepting the position but "I didn't sound excited enough about the position" and so she "was going to reconsider the offer" and let me know the following Tuesday after the holiday weekend.
Unbelievably unprofessional management who toy with your career and ability to make a living. Today is that Tuesday and I just received a call from the branch manager stating she was going to continue with other candidates - she revoked the job offer. Unbelievable.
Thank goodness for my current boss as he allowed me to revoke my two week notice. If not for that, I'd be without a job in two weeks.
I plan on contacting her manager and/or corporate. That is no way to conduct a business and no way to treat people who need to make a living. I am honestly appalled.

Interview

Question 1
What is one personality trait that bothers you most about others?
I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union
Interview
Applied online through their website, including a personality assessment survey based on hypothetical situations. The questions were difficult to answer in an accurate way, as the multiple-choice answer options often included works like "always" and "never," which don't adequately reflect the reality of actual behavior.
The next step was a phone interview with an HR ("employee resource and development") representative, with personality-focused questions about when I've helped someone or gone above and beyond for someone else.
Next were in-person interviews with branch leaders, first at a different branch than the one to which I was applying, and then one with the leader of my desired branch. The first interview was a lot of standard interview questions (tell me about yourself, when have you had to give feedback and how did you go about it, tell me something you learned in your previous interview, what do you expect from Affinity Plus), as well as more thorough evaluation of whether I was a people person and focused on delivering on the organization's mission to provide "outstanding member experiences" (tell me something interesting you learned about someone in the last week).
Important buzz-words and organization speak: "member service," not "customer service;" "member experience;" "relationship-based organization."
Second in-person interview focused more on career goals and my intentions and expectations for Affinity Plus and my future.

Question 1
If on one of your first days there is a big line and you get a member asking about a car loan (about which you don’t know anything yet) how would you go about helping that member? What questions would you ask, without knowing their credit score or anything like that, to evaluate whether or not to grant them the loan?
