Ally.io interview questions

I wasn't actively looking out but while through the interview process and talking with people in Ally and type of problem Ally is solving was interesting to me. Round 1: Telephonic screening with director of engineering - They assess whether the candidate is eligible and good to proceed. Mostly you will be enquired about your past projects and skills. Round 2: Online Coding Assessment on your time - You will be asked to build a small web app within certain time frame. Round 3: Data structure/Algorithm round - A problem statement will be provided and you need to solve it using DS/Algorithm . Interviewer was seems to be a good fresher guy but was not able to convey the problem statement clearly with correct suggestions and guidance. I didn't do this round well. Round 4: Technical discussion with a team member - It happened over facecode in hackerearth, interviewer had good knowledge so the conversation went constructive and positive. - It was around deep dive into JS, ES6, HTML, CSS concepts, some framework based question. All with live coding Round 5: Technical discussion with technical lead - Questions were around frontend application design , state management, understanding on various frameworks and its pros & cons, security related questions. It went well Round 6: Discussion with Product manager - A lot of real scenario based questions on product manager , developer, designer interactions - He gave a brief introduction on the product Round 7: DS/Algo round with senior person - This happened since i didn't do good in round 3, this went fine. This was DS/Algo live coding round. Round 8: Cultural fit round with CEO - This round assess the candidate character, attitude and many other factors. - I was impressed when he asked that I didn't do good on DS round, He was even aware how a candidate did in previous rounds. I gave him right reason and he accepted it too . - A lot of good thoughts were shared during this call. I enjoyed it Final: Offer discussion. Suggestion: Interview process needs to be more focused on frontend aspects too, It was more focused on DS/Algo which is important but when it comes to FE hiring there are other question which was missed to evaluate a FE candidate (Ex: cross browser issues, performance optimization, knowledge on Browser API, service and web workers, web storage mechanisms... )

Total 6 rounds for senior software engineer. 2 DS/Algo rounds, 2 design round and 1 HM and cultural fit round by CEO. The interview standard was solid, can't complain there. Standard questions were asked. They don't reject based on just one round, I think most candidates go through one ds/algo and one design round at-least. The overall interview process took more than a month.
