This is the People Success team responding. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.
First of all, we highly appreciate that, even though you didn’t have a great experience with us, you still encouraged candidates to apply. It’s true that our team is close-knit, and everyone takes pride in our culture. Our founder is very clear about our vision and where we are heading.
That being said, we completely understand that 2-month-long interview process is very long. We should’ve tried to complete the process much faster. We apologize for that. Also, we get it that after traveling to Bangalore for the interview process, you felt that one of the reasons for your rejection was your lack of design knowledge, despite having mentioned that design isn’t your forte. We recognize that this was not the best approach on our part, and we should have delivered the feedback more effectively. I also feel we should have had other candidates who were knowledgeable in design, but I’m unsure since this happened five years ago. Additionally, we understand that you may have felt unsettled when we asked you to complete another task, as we didn’t realize you had already submitted assignments earlier. This was a complete oversight on our part.
We try to build our job descriptions clearly based on the expectations for the role, so I’m equally confused about why working with designers wasn’t an idea the team was interested in, especially since it was mentioned in the JD.
We empathize with the frustration you must have felt hearing the reason for your rejection. As a startup, we are continuously working to improve our recruitment process. We’ve made necessary changes, such as communicating clear feedback to candidates’ post-interview and providing updates after every round. We’ve also hired recruiters who take the lead in the hiring process and try to finish the interview process for every candidate within 2 weeks and constantly are in touch with hiring managers in decision-making process to ensure a positive experience. We have streamlined the interview process to be more candidate friendly. One key aspect of our recruitment process is that we now have calls with candidates to understand their CTC expectations, and we only proceed if it matches our budget. CTC is never discussed at the end now. It was super unfortunate in your case, and trust me, as you mentioned, it is definitely a one-off incident.
We completely agree that Almabase’s founder cares about his employees and is constantly working to build a sustainable and transparent culture.
With everything said, we appreciate you sharing your experience with the interview process and would encourage you to reach out to us at join@almabase.com if you’d like to explore any potential opportunities that may arise in the future. We would love it if you apply with us again!
Trust us—we will strive to make the interview process smooth.
