I had 6 phone interviews and 1 lunch interview over 5 months. They were very understanding of my timeline, which I really appreciated. I was impressed by the company/ people and was told several times that they wanted me on their team when I joined. Then I encountered one of the most unprofessional things I've experienced: I received an HR-generated email that I was no longer being considered a candidate, and I was ghosted. I have emailed each person I worked with throughout this process 2-3 times and have not heard a thing in response. After 5 months they sent me an impersonal, formal email and no one will respond to me -- if this is the culture they allow and promote, I feel lucky to not work there. I dodged a bullet.
