I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Los Angeles, CA) in Aug 2011
Interview
I had 3 phone interviews prior to flying up to Seattle for a series of in-person interviews. The phone interviews were relatively basic. Questions about background - situational questions about overcoming market challenges and contact information.
The interviews in Seattle were much more indepth. I met with 7 people from various divisions related to sales. The questions broadened to market perspective, questions about the product / what I would do increase the revenue potential.
The campus had a start-up feel to it (lots of energy), but the interviews revealed a very corporate, process-based approach to the business.
I ultimately opted out because I was looking for a sales role in an organization where advertisers are highly valued internally - otherwise it gets very frustrating, very fast.
