      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at American Airlines (Dallas, TX) in Oct 2017

      Interview

At the face to face interview you are first given a test that asks you to sort situations from the most important to the least. After this you are shown a short video of American Airlines is all about. From there you and your table are to play a who's who game to help break the ice and tension in the room. While this is going on and throughout the day, you are being watched by the recruitment team constantly, even when you think you aren't! Always smile and laugh at the appropriate times. Sit with good posture and get to know everyone around you including the recruitment team. After this game you break for snacks and then are split up into small groups where you head to the group interview. They will start with the same question for everyone, "Tell us about yourself and why you want to become a flight attendant.". Everyone will get to answer in an order up to the person in the room. REMEMBER: They know you love to travel and are interested in culture and anything worldly! Everyone says that and if you use that as your answer then you will turn them off. Use an unique answer that only you would say. Stand out from the crowd and be yourself! After the first round of questions they will ask a random question and anyone can answer at anytime. Remember to smile and if you'd like, make them laugh a little! People take this day very seriously and the recruitment team would love for someone to make them laugh! Shine through with your answer. Make sure to turn the answer around and make it about them in the end, why you are a good fit and/or why your talents are useful to them. The third question is random again but this time you are to pick from a pile of cards and are not allowed to see the question until you are ready. Again, no order this time, anyone can go at any time. Your answer should be around 30 seconds or less and you will not see the question until it is your turn. After this you are sent back to the room where you will meet back with everyone and watch a power point about the day in the life of a flight attendant and here is where you learn a little more about the job and what it entails. After the power point the host will conduct a Q&A where you can ask any question. Throughout this you and the others will be taken out one by one for your one on one. Make sure you take all your things and say goodbye to everyone because this is your last time to shine and then its back to the airport! During your one on one you will be asked just some simple questions about you and your resume and again, you'll be given a chance to ask any questions you have. Now, after your one on one you have two paths. You will be sent to do a reach test where you are tested on your height, asked to sit in a chair and buckle up and finally to get a picture of you and your passport. Or you will be all set to go back to the lobby where you will wait for a shuttle back to the airport. So as you see it can go either two ways. All in all if you are to take one thing from this it is to be yourself and shine through! You made it this far and that in itself is already a big accomplishment! Lots of luck and love to those going to the face to face interview!
