I applied online. The process took 9 months. I interviewed at American Airlines (Dallas, TX) in Aug 2017
Interview
The process took me many months. I applied online, 2 weeks later received a video interview, 2 months later an invitation to the F2F interview in Dallas, 1 month later was the actual F2F interview. At the interview it takes place at the training center campus after they fly you in the morning of the interview (which makes sense to see how well you interview under the same conditions as a typical flight attendant's day would be). At the interview all the interviewees mingled in the lobby for awhile until the interview time. There were about 65 there that day. We then moved on to a room with round tables where we play an ice breaker game and the recruitment team took notes the entire time. You then present to the room. Later you move on to a group panel interview with about 5-10 people (2/3 interviewers) and everyone reads the same 2-3 questions and another at random. You then move on back to the round table room and learn a little more in depth about the life of a flight attendant at AA. By this time the recruitment team has mostly chosen who will be moving on to the 1 on 1 interview and who will be walked out. Everyone is called out of the room one at a time. Those that more often than not are offered a CJO move on to a 1 on 1 interview where you go through more questions and end with a reach test and sit in the jump seat if things go well. Those that are walked to the bus after it all are more than likely receiving a TBNT email in the near future. I personally received an email with a CJO 2 weeks later and have heard others can receive an offer the day of. It differs depending on how far along the recruitment team has gotten to meet their quota or how soon the next scheduled classes are. A couple months later I was drug tested and a few months after that the 5-6 week training began. (This also varies for people who make it through the interview process) Just remember to be prepared but not rehearsed. The recruitment team sees hundreds-thousands of interviews and they know a rehearsed answer. Be yourself, be confident, smile, and prove you are the customer service representative that they are looking for. Remember not to ramble, keep your phone away, and dress the part. Good luck!
