      Flight Attendant Interview

      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at American Airlines

      Interview

Step 1-2: Online Interview - If your job application is accepted, you’ll be scheduled for an online interview where you will have to introduce yourself and share one thing unique about yourself in 1 minute, then you will have to answere one job related question in 1 minute. If accepted, you’ll be invited to an in-person interview via email a few days later. Step 3: In-person Interview - You’ll be expected to fill out a mini paper-exam, briefly introduced yourself in front of your fellow interviewees, and answer 2 job related scenario based questions verbally in front of a group in 1 minute. You will be divided in groups after this to be interviewed by a hiring manager. If you are the first group called, you will not be hired as some others on this site figured out. The rest of the groups will be in touch with the hiring manager. If you’re not hired on the spot and sent for a physical (drug test) immediately after, they’ll tell you that they’ll “reach you within 5-7 business days” which means you weren’t hired. The hosts at the event are there to mitigate challenges so they’ll give you false hope as you leave, I’m just being 100% honest with you. If you have a single write-up or termination brought to their attention from your most recent job, they will not hire you. The folks interviewing you other than the hiring manager, while experienced, aren’t professionally trained in hiring as they are current flight attendants themselves or hold another job within the company (if you’re smart, you’ll know how to use that to your advantage). As a result they aren’t as knowledgeable about the company as you would think and may tell you that you’ll learn the answere to your question in training. MY OPINIONS: The interview event based on my own personal experience was…..questionably organized as there were large gaps of time of people waiting to be interviewed by the hiring manager and the employees hosting the event filling it up with stories about their childhood and how they ended up with that company. An individual host at my specific event was in front of everyone saying “um…” when they couldn’t ramble any longer. They then kept asking us interviewees if we had questions but only so many questions could be asked about a job field we aren’t very familiar with. One interviewee with flight attendant experience had to ask the host questions I think the host themselves should have been discussing in the very beginning. ***I didn’t approve of the companies lack of transparency in regards to the fact that a large majority of hired candidates will end up legally homeless competing for scarce crashpads (temporary monthly housing exclusively for flight attendants) or being financially challenged commuting from their current dwelling to airport for work. The host flight attendant at the event simply stated that they’ll have a “rough time” for a while. This “rough time” leads to a high turn over rate to newcomers in this field! WHY I REJECTED OFFER: My expectation of the hiring event run by largest airline in the county were not met. I found various “holes” that became red flags for me as they became trends so I respectfully rejected my offer.
