I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at American Family Insurance in Nov 2011
Interview
Applied for this position through a Craigslist posting, got a call from the agent the next day with a mini-phone interview. He was very friendly and professional. He asked what time would be best for me to come in the day after tomorrow. At the interview he introduced himself and his staff before starting the interview in his office. He then asked questions about me, my skills, and knowledge of American Family insurance. (MAKE SURE TO STUDY UP ON THIS!) After the first part of the interview was over he asked for me to sit down with the rest of his staff to see if I would fit in with them. As I sat with the rest of the staff they asked me questions and I asked them questions, it was a very inviting atmosphere.
After they had asked me all the questions we could think of where asked the agent brought me back into his office and offered me a position contingent upon my background and credit check. He offered a hourly pay that was higher than what I initially asked for. At this point I am waiting to see I will pass the checks.

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at American Family Insurance
Interview
The interview was very informal. It was more of a conversation than an interview. It took only about 30 minutes in total and ended with a job offer almost immediately.
Just talk to the agent in person. Interviewer ask about the resume and availability. Not much behavior questions involved. I was told they are interview quite a lot of people. Get the offer about two days later.
You are pretty much in if you already have an insurance license and flexible work schedule. Training someone who has no insurance experience is proven to be very difficult. TIP: Learn as much as possible about insurance and you can be reimbursed for the cost of licensing by AMFAM.
