I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Amplitude (San Francisco, CA)
Interview
I was contacted by a recruiter and we had an introductory phone call.
Next, I had phone interviews with hiring managers from 2 different teams. This is basically to see if your skills & interests align well with the team.
I received positive feedback from one of the hiring managers and we decided to go ahead in the interview process.
The next round in the interview process was a technical phone round. There were 2 coding questions and a follow-up question. All went well and the next day, I received an email that we will proceed to the final set of interviews; Virtual Onsite on Zoom.
Amplitude was courteous enough to split the interviews across 2 days. I sent a couple of dates and times and the coordinator scheduled the interviews and we finalized on 2 consecutive dates.
Here comes the twist, a day before my interview, I received an email saying they recently hired someone and there are no longer any openings
Everything was pleasant until I received this email. I guess the main reason is for me being frustrated is, I had invested a significant amount of time to understand the product, their APIs, etc, and was excited to meet the team. I had canceled my trips for the long weekend.
Anyway, I don't understand the dynamics of the hiring process at Amplitude, but it could definitely improve.

I applied online. I interviewed at Amplitude (San Francisco, CA) in Jun 2026
Interview
The interview process followed a standard format: an initial recruiter phone screen followed by a technical interview with an engineer. The interview itself was straightforward, and I felt that my performance was strong. However, I received a rejection email a few days later.
One aspect that stood out was that the interviewer did not seem particularly engaged, and the conversation felt more like a one sided assessment than an interactive discussion. As a result, the overall experience felt less collaborative than I had expected.

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Amplitude (San Francisco, CA) in May 2025
Interview
The recruiter setup a zoom call with the hiring manager, who was actually not with Amplitude itself, but "CommandAI", formerly "CommandBar", which was acquired by Amplitude. He was a no show for nearly 10 minutes so I emailed the hiring manager, at which point the manager emailed me saying he was detained and would be 10 minutes late. Eventually, 17 minutes in, just as I was closing the tab, he finally showed up. He did not seem like someone I'd want to work for.
