The whole process was a complete waste of 2 months of my life. Was approached by several people from both recruiting and the hiring manager directly on LinkedIn about a role on their team. After 5 rounds of interviews with 6 people, including a 2 hour aptitude test as well as a 1 hour presentation to the team, was then given a verbal offer from the recruiter saying that they should have a written offer within 2 days. 3 days later, was told that "management has made some changes and will no longer be proceeding" without any context as to what happened between a verbal offer after the final around and the changes.
All in all, it was 8 weeks of communication, preparation, interviewing, and demoing to be told that they went a different direction, without any actual feedback as to what went wrong. It's ok to not give an offer, that happens. But don't make people go through that much work and then not give any feedback as to why.
