I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Amplitude (Vancouver, BC) in Apr 2021
Interview
I interviewed via a recruiting agency. They first set a talk to one hiring manager. Then I got another email asking for scheduling with a second hiring manager. When I asked if I needed to talk to both managers, I heard that it was an oversight. However, they cancelled the first and second hiring manager and set up a call with the third hiring manager. However, they didn't change the meeting link erroneously, so I waited for a while to talk to someone. I contacted the recruiting agency but didn't hear back. Finally the 3rd hiring manager sent me an email and said whether I am still available. I joined the new meeting link that she provided. This interview was more in the form of a chat.
After the chat with the Hiring Manager, they sent me to the tech screen round. In the tech screen, they first started with an introduction and informed me that I will have to solve 2 programming challenges within 45 to 50 mins so that I get time at the end for asking questions. I solved both, for the first problem interviewer asked if I can optimize it. I was under time pressure as I knew I had to solve a second problem. I tried but couldn't see a way to optimize.
Anyway, after the interview I didn't hear back anything from them for 2 weeks. When I reached out to the recruiting agency they said, I didn't pass the tech screen. This company must be the next Google as they expect their candidate to provide optimal solutions for 2 problems in 45 to 50 mins.
Well the fun part is 1 week later, the recruiter from this company reached out to me saying how I have all the relevant experience blah blah. This guy is repeatedly sending me emails. I didn't bother to reply to a recruiter of a company who cannot track whether they have approached and interviewed a candidate.
I applied online. I interviewed at Amplitude (San Francisco, CA) in Jun 2026
Interview
The interview process followed a standard format: an initial recruiter phone screen followed by a technical interview with an engineer. The interview itself was straightforward, and I felt that my performance was strong. However, I received a rejection email a few days later.
One aspect that stood out was that the interviewer did not seem particularly engaged, and the conversation felt more like a one sided assessment than an interactive discussion. As a result, the overall experience felt less collaborative than I had expected.

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Amplitude (San Francisco, CA) in May 2025
Interview
The recruiter setup a zoom call with the hiring manager, who was actually not with Amplitude itself, but "CommandAI", formerly "CommandBar", which was acquired by Amplitude. He was a no show for nearly 10 minutes so I emailed the hiring manager, at which point the manager emailed me saying he was detained and would be 10 minutes late. Eventually, 17 minutes in, just as I was closing the tab, he finally showed up. He did not seem like someone I'd want to work for.
