The process was seamless end to end. I started off with a hackerrank question (self administered but time blocked to 90 minutes) and a live follow up session with engineer to build something on top of it.
The onsite comprised 4 meetings including product thinking, system design, coding, and behavioral with the hiring manager. Everyone I met on the team was highly engaged, sharp, passionate, and humble, and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting every single person on my panel. I got the sense that the company truly cared about its people and the quality of their products.
I ended up turning down the offer due to personal reasons, but I would 100% recommend this company.

Question 1
The hackerrank was a practical type of problem that you'd see in real life.
The onsite technical portion was very practical, something you'd build on the job.
I applied online. I interviewed at Amplitude (San Francisco, CA) in Jun 2026
Interview
The interview process followed a standard format: an initial recruiter phone screen followed by a technical interview with an engineer. The interview itself was straightforward, and I felt that my performance was strong. However, I received a rejection email a few days later.
One aspect that stood out was that the interviewer did not seem particularly engaged, and the conversation felt more like a one sided assessment than an interactive discussion. As a result, the overall experience felt less collaborative than I had expected.

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Amplitude (San Francisco, CA) in May 2025
Interview
The recruiter setup a zoom call with the hiring manager, who was actually not with Amplitude itself, but "CommandAI", formerly "CommandBar", which was acquired by Amplitude. He was a no show for nearly 10 minutes so I emailed the hiring manager, at which point the manager emailed me saying he was detained and would be 10 minutes late. Eventually, 17 minutes in, just as I was closing the tab, he finally showed up. He did not seem like someone I'd want to work for.
