Disappointed in my interview experience with this company. I had made it to the final stage and they initiated a reference check. My former colleagues took time out of their schedules to speak with Amplitude. Soon after, I received a call that they went with another candidate. It was not communicated to me AT ALL that the references would be the tiebreaker between me and the other candidate - I thought it was a formality before extending an offer. I only want my references to be contacted IF an offer is going to be made, otherwise you are wasting their time. These are busy people who have kindly agreed to do me a favor; now I have to ask them to repeat this process AGAIN with another potential employer. On top of that, the interview process is onerous, but that's exactly what I expected for a company of this size.
