The job description and role responsibilities don’t align. Despite being marketed as a strategic role, it’s essentially a glorified support position for the customer account team (AEs, CSMs, Value Consulting, and SEs). The recruiter was engaging and transparent about current challenges at Amplitude—kudos to him for being upfront. Unfortunately, that was the only positive part of the process.
The hiring manager arrived late to the interview and asked redundant questions that simply repeated what the recruiter had already covered. He was low-energy, disengaged, and seemed uninterested in my background. I was interrupted while answering questions and barely given time to ask my own. There was no effort to sell the role or create a positive candidate experience.
The communication throughout the process was poor, with two-week gaps between each interview step, making for a frustrating and disorganized experience. To make matters worse, I was ghosted midway through the process after reaching the middle stages—no feedback, rejection email, or closure.
The hiring manager admitted that the role is more reactive (firefighting) than strategic or transformative, and success metrics are unclear. Despite the mention of renewals, this isn’t a CSM role, making it difficult to tie measurable impact back to the position. Additionally, the hiring manager referenced internal churn issues with key accounts, raising further concerns about stability.
