I applied online. I interviewed at Ashby in Nov 2025
Interview
Applied online for the position Remote in EU. Got rejection email in exactly 1 day after application with some generic requirements for the position that are to say the least really hard to be captured and evaluated from a resume review such as: "Nuanced judgment of people, situations, and business decisions".
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Q: What are you looking for in your next role? Why Ashby?
Q: What makes you a great individual contributor?
Discarded the CV without a proper rejection reason, so it's impossible to know what actually didn't match their expectations. Didn't even get to talk to anyone, which is very unfortunate.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Ashby (Dublin, Dublin) in Mar 2026
Interview
The process is heavily filtered and opinionated, which is good. They are looking for a very specific match, and they are open about that.
The first stage is a call with a recruiter.
The second stage is with the hiring manager.
The third stage would have been a technical exercise, but I was not invited to complete it.
The recruiter call was good, and they probed culture fit more than I was expecting.
The hiring manager call felt like a good conversation, but it also felt clear that I would not be progressing. Ashby has some great blog posts on company culture and one point that is specifically called out is valuing inputs over outputs. I had taken this to heart during my preparation, but it felt like the outputs were what was being measured in this interview, and it would have been better to see Ashby values and operating principles to be put to use in the interview.
Feedback is provided. One part of that was a perceived lack of experience in a particular technology stack, which I did have experience in. It was not asked during the interview, and the pre-read stated that prior knowledge of the stack was not required for the technical portion of the interview. This, and the input / output issue are why I rate the overall experience as mixed. I feel it is really important for company values to be important at the interview stage.
