I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at AutoNation in Oct 2012
Interview
I was puttting applications in around 1:30 AM in Octoober of 2012. By 9:30 AM the General Manager of my store called and asked me to come in for a interview at 1:30 PM. When I came in, I first interviewed with the General Sales Manager. He said he will be back the General Manager wanted to meet with me. I then met with the General Manager who immediately told me he thought I would be a good fit for the company. He said he had some people he wanted me to talk to next. Needless to say by the end of my 4th interview for that day I was offered a job. I've spoken to a lot of people who had to do second and third interviews intermittently, but only for government jobs. Yet, I interviewed four times. I'm glad I did!
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The most unexpected question was: This is the only business that you can sell your self out of debt. Are you ready for that lifestyle?
In person, basic questions, nothing unusual. Two managers interview you and then they talk to the GM before ultimately making a decision. If you call and check on the status of your app you're likely to receive an offer.
I applied through other source. The process took 12 months. I interviewed at AutoNation (Las Vegas, NV) in Nov 2025
Interview
Poor, if you even get an interview. Then, they hide behind their corporate website and say that you were not selected. They need to choose between local vs nation wide hiring process.

I then spoke with a young lady who was internet sales manager who seemed almost hostile. I was the third interviewer was eating lunch and couldn’t be bothered. Didn’t hear back and followed up. No response. Basically ghosted.
