I’m disappointed to share that after going through multiple rounds of interviews and following up several times, I’ve received no response regarding the outcome of a position that was specifically advertised for recent graduates. This opportunity was widely circulated and even promoted by employees directly via LinkedIn messages, which created a sense of encouragement and hope for many of us actively seeking employment in an increasingly challenging job market due to recent government layoffs.
I understand that circumstances can change, and difficult decisions need to be made, but transparency and communication are essential. Ghosting candidates, particularly those who are just starting their careers or facing job insecurity, sends the wrong message and undermines the credibility of the organization.
It doesn’t take much to send a follow up or a respectful update. It’s not just about professionalism. It’s about treating people with the basic decency they deserve. I sincerely hope this feedback leads to better practices moving forward.
