For a company that should have a primal focus on security, I found it odd that the internal recruiter passed me on to a completely outside representative to arrange an interview with the hiring manager. If it weren't for a second glance, I would have passed the email off as spam.
The recruiter initially reached out to me, then toward the end of what seemed like a pleasant conversation started cherrypicking my experience as represented on my resume and told me I'm a stretch candidate as I may not quite meet the requirements. I found that a bit odd as I could have fudged a previous job title slightly and exceeded their apparent minimum requirements.
The interview with the hiring manager was extremely pleasant, and the hiring manager seemed like a genuinely good guy who was interested in me. Inexplicably a few days later I was told they were passing on me and interviewing other candidates. That seemed like a manipulative about-face if they were indeed interviewing me for less than honest reasons, but I guess that's part of the price of interviewing.
The big two negatives about this experience were being passed to that outside firm pre-interview, which seems a bit untrustworthy, and having a recruiter reach out to me and pass me along through the chain for less than honest reasons.
