Applied for a Textile Designer job on Stylecareers. Was contacted by a HR team member. Scheduled a phone interview with the HR Manager on Tuesday, it went well and said that she would pass along my resume to the Hiring Manager and they would be in touch for a second phone interview probably by end of the week (I am in NYC). I waited a full week and reached out asking if the Hiring Manager wanted to speak with me and continue the process. I didn't get a response to my email, but a call from a different HR team member a few minutes later to schedule my phone interview with the Design Director. We scheduled it for the following day and I was asked to set aside a half hour to speak. I had the phone interview which seemed to go quite well, speaking of my experience and what they were looking for and where they possibly saw me fitting in to the team. He then asked me to send along some samples of my work, which I followed up with promptly. I got no reply. I emailed the Design Director about 10 days later asking if they thought they would want to continue the interview process, and I never got a response back. Ever.
In my opinion this is really unprofessional. Its fairly simple to let a candidate know that they are not going to continue the process and want to proceed with other candidates, totally fine. I now know I would never want to work with a team or company that simply blows people off after taking the time for 2 phone interviews, and sending them work samples.
