I applied to Belk online for the beauty advisor position. I heard back from them within 5 days and scheduled an interview for the following week. The 1st interview was really simple; only a few questions were asked. The manager spent majority of the time telling me about the job and what was required for it. She asked only a couple of questions like: Are you comfortable with applying makeup to peoples faces? What did you do at your previous job? Are you okay asking people to apply for Belk cards? and Do you have any prior experience with makeup? (like Freelance work)...I was told I would be contacted for a second interview. The following week I was called to come in for another interview. At that interview I was asked several questions like: When did you know you wanted to be a makeup artist? How did you know you had a passion for makeup? Sell me a product and upsell it with another product. What's your availability? What have you been doing for the past several years? Why did you leave your previous job? Describe a time when you worked as a team to achieve a goal. and Is there anything that will conflict with your job availability? I was then told I would receive a call that afternoon for the last interview (the phone interview), which was the hardest of all the interviews. Majority of the questions asked were about leadership so be prepared. I was asked questions like: What does leadership mean to you? Why did you leave your previous job? If you had a difference of opinion with your manager how would you handle it, and what was the outcome? If your friends were asked why should we hire you, what would they say? Name a time when you had to lead. How do you get others to listen to you as a leader? What does being a entrepreneur mean to you? What do you think beauty advisors do on a daily basis? What feedback will make you a better leader? How did you handle failure at your job? Name a time you did something at work and didn't expect a reward? Do you take risks?
