During that time, we had some additional reorganization within the Department which extended the process which was unfortunate. With having hundreds of applicants for all of our roles, I can assure you that once we find an experienced candidate and schedule some time, that time is taken seriously so it's regrettable that you felt that it was fluff. I received an email requesting that I select a time for a 30 minute interview with HR. Interview started 2 minutes late and went very well. Was scheduled for 30 minutes but lasted 47. She was gushing over how perfect I was for the position and she wanted to speak with the hiring manager immediately and would call me back that day or the next morning at the latest to schedule a final interview with the hiring manager. Two days later I received an email stating that they had a change of plans and were no longer going to be hiring for this position.
